Jealous Winter

Winter's chilly fingers dance
across my memories of summer
and its warm coconut scents.
Do you remember the way
the moon smiled up at us
as we danced rings
around Saturn and wrote
our name on the Milky Way?
I wonder why winter is so jealous
of the soft satin of summer
that still clings to my eyelashes
like golden sunlight in the morning?
We must have made a devilish
impression with the tease of our laughter
and the temptation we gave to the stars
as we kissed under the cape of night.
Winter shouldn't be so jealous,
for its coldness is the reason
we find ourselves hiding under covers
and warming up our nights.

A poem I plan to use in my second poetry book, "Saturn and Satin."
