Thursday...
I thought it was Friday, imagine my surprise when I realized I was... WRONG.
Been fairly busy this week with restorations. Did drive up to see Al Tuesday after work. We cooked some beef short ribs and enjoyed a few games of Rummy while waiting for the Cash and Treasure show to come on the Travel Channel. We're both addicted to that show. I bet we've planned 10 vacations based on places to find gems and other goodies. Just for the adventure.
William's home sick. His teacher called Lisa yesterday and said he had a high fever. I kept him last night and this morning it was down some. My brother's watching him. William's a Disney channel freak. His favor parts of it are the videos from the movies like "High School Musical" and "Jump it" or whatever the name is.. actually I have to say the videos are very lively. Usually William jumps around and tries to do the dances but last night he didn't. I knew then that he was a sick boy.
To cheer him up this morning I made green pancakes. His favorite color. Which made me think of crepes. I had a recipe for crepes once. A real simple one and can't find it now. I'm thinking of making some this weekend for Al.
Had a strange thing to happen... a call from an old flame. Guess who? Robert--the GI. I swear, threw me off when I heard his voice and for the first time, I didn't feel anything, other than relief that he was alive. He's back at Bragg, teaching. And wanted to pick up where we left off. Funny how he forgot that he ended things because I was a "distraction to his Army career." I really didn't have much to say to him. He gave me his email address, his phone numbers--made me write them down and call them back to him a few times. We hung up and that was that...
then I realized I didn't tell him I was dating Al again. I think the shock of hearing from him froze my brain. Al and I have talked about some of the people we saw while apart. I mentioned Robert to him but never really told him everything. Do I tell him about Robert calling? I don't know ...maybe. This morning I tried to throw away his info, but put the paper in my jewelry box.
It's not that I'm going to contact him... it's ..well... hmmm... on the chance something happens with Al and me... I think you can figure out the rest.

Brrrrr
I'm cold. We've got cold rain and I tell ya...this old building isn't built for warmth. The ceilings are at least 20 feet. I bet if I got a ladder and stood on the top of it, I would feel where all the heat has gone.
Had an ok weekend. My Bears won. I had given up on the Colt/Patriots game at the 2nd quarter and changed the channel over to HBO and watched the latest Rome episode. After it was over, I switched to something else and I heard my brother John say, "Hey the Colts have come back." (He had been on the PC goofing off). SO I watched the last 2 minutes and watched the Colts win. Little Manning had his head down, afraid to watch. But when the Colt interception occurred, he looked happy. I think of all the people I know who follow the NFL (I'm talking in Real Life here), I'm the only Bears fan(CORRECTION: my DJ friend Jeff is too). One of my friends told me that she and her boyfriend are hoping the Colts win because Peyton Manning makes funny television commericals. I can't help but think, "yeah, I dig him in his bad wig and fake moustache, trying to coax us into buying a new Cell phone." Yes, that's a good reason to pull for a team.
Something came up and I didn't get to see Al this weekend. We both realized how much we've come to rely on the weekend--how we look forward to the moment that I arrive and he pulls me into his arms.... I feel as if I didn't have a real weekend. The reason I didn't go is that my cousin Lee gave my truck a tune-up. I believe he's on permenant football time. What should take a couple of hours to do took 2 days. I'm no complaining...he saved me a couple of hundred bucks...
Ben lost his first tooth this past Friday morning. It was a little loose when he woke up and when he realized this, he began to work it with his tongue, fingers until he had it so loose that Lisa pulled it so he wouldn't end up swallowing it. He did this within a two hour period. I swear that kid is part bull-dog. It's just one of the many differences between Ben and William. Ben couldn't leave it alone until it came out and William won't touch his loose teeth, he let's them hang by a thread until they fall out.
I remember the first tooth I lost. I was at my Great-Grandmother Kinlaw's house. I showed it to her and she jerked it out before I knew what she was doing. It bled a little but I didn't cry. I was about 5 or maybe 6. I don't remember the other teeth. I guess they came out ok. LOL.. at least I don't still have them.
For those of you who message me on yahoo messenger. It's been colliding with my photo program today... when it's logged in, the program won't work. And we all know which is more important. So...if you don't see me and think I might be online, send an email...and if I can, I'll pop on for a chat.

Just A Quicky
Nutty day..today.
Things happening that aren't ...well, nutty.
So I'll make this brief. Thanks to all who sent well wishes to me regarding Uncle Red. The viewing was really hard for me. I didn't stay more than 5 minutes and couldn't take the funeral. I ran out and cried in my truck for a while. Then came back to work to work off the grief.
I forgot to mention that William's party was fun. The kids did great and he got some fun gifts. I took photos and will have to remember to post a few next week.
My DJ friend Jeff has been sick this week. Get well, DJ JD...we miss you.
Been chatting with the lovely Jo some this week. I've missed my friend and it's been nice to laugh with her.
Before I forget...hope all have a great weekend. Go BEARS!

Uncle Red
I've mentioned him in this blog on several occasions...my Great-Uncle Red died Sunday at the age of 81. He's been ill--kidney problems, eye trouble and difficulity breathing. I'll miss him. He was a bright spot in my day when he popped in to bring me an orange or an apple and sometimes some peppermint. I'm really sad and trying not get work done. He's funeral is today.
He may be missed but he won't be forgotten.

A Golf Club Walks Into a Bar
A golf club walks into a local bar and asks the barman for a pint of beer.
The barman refuses to serve him. "Why not," asks the golf club.
"You'll be driving later," replies the bartender.

Candy Land
I'm the Queen of Candyland... William and I played 5 games last night and I won 4.
Remember to keep your head lower than mine and to pay tribute with candy...
lol
all day suckers are the best.

Thirst day
For some insane reason, I'm thirsty today. I've consumed 3 bottled waters already. I guess we all know where I'll be spending most of the afternoon....
peeing my brains out.
Saturday is William's birthday. He'll be 8. I kept him last night and told him the story of the first time I saw him and how he flew into my hard. He looked solemnly for a moment and then asked, "How did I do that?"
Lisa called me a few minutes ago and asked if we could have the party at my house, because she waited too long to book the Bowling Alley. I'm really pissed at her. He's been saying since September that he wanted his party there. She accuses me of favoring William over Ben and I shot that finger right back at her, reminding her that she had booked Ben's party two months in advanced and asked why did she wait so long... she got angry and hung up on me.
Mom will be upset that I upset Lisa but hell, I think Lisa needs to get her head out of her ass and think about William more than she does. How's the poor kid ever gonna have friends if she doesn't encourage him... this is the main area where his autism cripples him. He doesn't have the social skills to interact without prompts...and the best way to learn is to jump right in there.
Ok...rant is over.
On to a different topic..Sunday Jan 14, will be the offical day that Al and I got back together. Sometimes it feels as if we've never been apart and this year has been one of the best, even if there have been hardships, I've never been happier.

The Holidays
I know I haven't written much about them. So I'll take a moment to write a little more. Granny stayed almost a week. She did great. There's a difference in her but at most times, she was still Granny--just at tad bit quieter. Once you got her interested in a topic, she warmed up.
The nephews got way too much. I'm to blame as well as Mom and Lisa. But I could do it this year and they deserve it.
The studio did okay over the holidays. We can tell that the digital era is hurting us a little. Not as many people came in this year for photo sessions, but I did get an overflow of photo retouching and restorations--in fact, it's still floating in. Everyone who comes in says, "Someone told me about you..." Which is awesome. After 17 years, my name is strong in this county and a few of the surrounding ones. I've begun to break into Fayetteville and it looks good on that end. I'm blessed with talent and thank God nightly for it.
The Japanese Ink Brush kit is great. I did a few pieces last week and once I get a chance I'll probably take some photos. Next year I think I'll give some as Christmas presents.
I've gotten lazy with my writing. I think of blog topics and write them in my head but when I pull up the site, I feel that it's too much of an effort to write. So I need to make an attempt, even if it's a shorty, or I'll lose my writing touch.
And touch is what gets us through the day. ;)

Condoms
Do I have your attention???
Since I'm legally off the pill now, I've invested in a variety of condoms.
Glow-in-the-dark, banana flavored ones, those ripply tickler kind, the desensitizing ones and...a style that has warming effects.
Gosh, I hope I don't go through all of them in one night.
And if I did...man, I think I deserve an award.
And Al... he would be impossible to live with. He walks around thumping his chest already.
I have to say... I'm not complaining.

AOL
Well, AOL is now free. What took them so long??? I've had a messenger profile with them for ages but rarely use it. Got an email from aol regarding a free email account and begging me to check out their new site.
So I did... not that impressed. I guess since they have to compete with yahoo, msn and you tube, regarding videos and other wonderful things that it seemed fitting to become a freebie. The advert on TV regarding their new video feature slays me... at first I thought it was a plug to feed the poor, and having "Al Bundy" as the spokesman: Priceless.. then I realized it was for AOL and some of the humor evaporated.

Life
Another year gone...
My new year was pretty good...stayed out of trouble. No wild nekkid end of the year partying for this girl... I decided to start off the year being good. After all, I want Santa to cum back again next year, so I'll get every thing I want, like I did this year...except my day2day calendar...
It was the only thing on my Santa list that I didn't get.. guess, I'll wait a week for them to go on sale and then get one...
when it comes to being cheap... I can be cheap.
I've decided not to make any resolutions this year...only to stay positive and to hold on to the belief that I can make any realistic dream come true...
so I guess the one about me buying a third world nation and proclaiming myself "Queen" will have to be shelved...
this year.

While the Printer Runs...
Busy bee me... but by tomorrow I'll be caught up.
Knew I would get a bunch of last minute orders today.
I realized that I haven't been keeping in close contact with some of my online friends. I feel bad about that in ways. But real life keeps me from the PC and to be honest, I don't log on messenger at home. I prefer to get online, do my stuff and get off so I can do other stuff.
Talked to my friend B from Cali for the first time in ages. I think we went two months without talking until last Thursday or maybe the Thursday before. We talked for over 45 minutes yesterday...and I realized that I'll always love him as a friend, that we've become a bit distant. Maybe because I've changed a lot. And he has in some ways but in others he hasn't. I love him... and I know he loves me. Cuz he says so and when he heard my voice, his own lit up. But...maybe after the holidays I'll have more time to post in PiB and more time to email him.
Same goes with some of my other friends. I try to email SB a few times a week and think of doing it more often. He's always been there and I love his emails about his life. They take me away from mine.
Well, J and I chat almost every day...so he's excluded from this list.
But Jo... I do miss her. She offers insight to my life that I can't see because I'm looking too hard. I love her emails about her kids and life in the UK.
And Kenzity... I am behind on her blog and hope that all is well in Bahrain.
There are other friends but I won't go into all of the details... at one time I felt as if I needed the internet to be a part of my social life. Maybe because I was sorting out my life after Al. And the attempts at finding love... only to return to that one true love. Funny how life is... it tries so hard to keep you on track if you let it.
Well, this has been a boring post. I'll mention the Best Mayor in the World because he'll read this and I sure don't want him to feel left out...
And Sarah HB... Keep that pretty head up. You are a special one.
So I'm back to work... now that the printer's stopped. Hope all have a great eve.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
I've been swamped and haven't had time to blog.
But I decided to take a moment and send out a shout.
May all my readers enjoy the Holidays and I wish for all...
the best of 2007.
In the meantime...eat more fruitcake...

All these things...
should make me hap...py..e
(Still singing the Nip Tuck finale song)
Well... Got a moment and I decided to drop by and write. Instead of answering email that I've neglected all week.
The thumb is better... though at night it aches. I'm probably doing to much. Yesterday and today I've battled a migraine. I wonder if it's not a combination of stress and sinus pressure. And Dad's excessive cigarette smoking. He's been told by 3 doctors to quit and won't. I don't understand that. And when I say his smoking bothers me, he gets pissed and says it's in my mind. I digress...it's in my LUNGS.
We've had crazy weather. In the upper 70's and low 80's during the day and freezing at night. Today some guy made fun of the weather by wearing a white tee and yellow shorts. It's warm but there's still a chill in the shadows....
Got most of my shopping done. Have to pick up a few more things but I know what I want to get...I think that's the hardest part, trying to figure out what to get people. Plus I have to do my dad and brother's shopping, too.
The nephews are enjoying the season. I told both of them that if they don't behave for me or Nana, I'm taking away a present and replacing it with goat cheese. So far they're behaving...though William said, "Goat cheese sounds interesting." So I may have to come up with a backup plan.
Ben straightened out my confusion over Jack Frost and Santa (re the Santa Clause 3 movie). It seems Santa only comes to visit one night...Jack Frost comes every night it freezes. Thanks Ben for the clarification.
And Sarah Hb... you mentioned in a comment on the Resoluiton post that anything and alcohol = breakable.. I have to agree...even hearts.
I've been thinking how lucky I've been this year. Surrounded by love, family and good friends--online and in real life. That's got to account for something.

Nip Tuck Finale Song
The season 4 finale was on last night. The cast did a great job of lip synching to this song. I'm definately downloading it.
Brighter Discontent
Artist or band: The Submarines
-----------------------------------------------
Got a brand new roof above my head
All the empty boxes thrown away
I rearranged the place
A hundred times today
But the ordering of objects
Couldn't hide what's missing
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be home again
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be alone again
Got myself a bottle of red wine
Got a night of nothing else to do
I think I might know
What I really want
But is a brighter discontent
The best that I could hope to find?
Got a big black television set
Now I can watch just what I want
But I'm here staring up
At pictures on the wall
And where are you,
You're still stuck inside them all
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be home again
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be alone again
But love is not these belongings
That surround me
Though there's meaning
In the memories they hold
A breaking heart in an empty apartment
Was the loudest sound I never heard
Got a desk I'll write myself a note
Pretending that it came from you
On hotel stationary
From the time we first met
Whatever I can do cause
I won't throw my hands up yet
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be home again
All these things should make me happy
Make me happy to be alone again
But love is not these belongings
That surround you
Though there's meaning
In the memories they hold
A breaking heart in an empty apartment
Was the loudest sound I never heard
Well I'll be find if
I dont look around me now
Too much for what's gone
If only I can wait here just a little while
And let time pass in my room

Kids say the...
Thurs night, I cut my left thumb... a nasty cut. With a knife, while cooking. I'll spare the details. Ended up with butterfly stitches and a tentus shot. The later hurt worse.
It's a nasty cut...almost goes around the whole thumb. So I'm favoring it a bit.
Friday night, William stayed with me. I was in my room, reading when he came in and sat on the edge of my bed. He said, "We need to talk, Sherrie."
He drops the "Aunt" title when he feels we're on the same level.
I lowered my book. "About what?" I asked.
He solemnly stared at me for a moment, and then said, "Knives."
"Oh? What about them?"
"They're sharp," he said.
"I know," I said, lifting my bandaged thumb.
"They aren't toys. So don't play with them," he advised.
I said, "I wasn't playing with a knife. I was trying to cook."
He said, "Don't. Let Nana cook. You find a good book to read."
(I tell him to find a good book to read when he gets in my way in the kitchen--funny how the things you say to kids can come back to haunt you.)

Hi to...
Jo... I'll post some more of the novel tomorrow. I need to edit some of it. xxoo
Sarah HB... I've missed you too, sweetie. Just remember you're a shining star and many people love you.
John... I don't have a tramp stamp nor any other marks that weren't put there by accident. But I've had a few hickeys in my time.
To The Greatest Mayor... hope you aren't too frosty and are able to make those PR appearances that this time of the year calls for.
And to my other silent readers...thanks for stopping by...
I hope to post more once the holidays are over.
