Night Falls
Night stands
alone in its darkness
yet not lonely.
Many lovers have
risen and fallen
under its mantle.
As you and I do.
We are hungry-handed lovers
reaching and groping;
a mad rush
to sate lust
under the mantle
of night;
alone, yet not lonely.
alone in its darkness
yet not lonely.
Many lovers have
risen and fallen
under its mantle.
As you and I do.
We are hungry-handed lovers
reaching and groping;
a mad rush
to sate lust
under the mantle
of night;
alone, yet not lonely.
Happy Birthday, Ben

Today is Little Bird's birthday. That's what I call Ben...Little Bird. His other nickname is "Ben Bug"...his first daycare teacher dubbed him that.
I spent most of the morning getting the house ready for the party. Wrapped presents--mine, mom's and my brother's. Even did a gag present... put a Super Mario t-shirt in the bottom of a Pink with White Polka dots gift bag..on top of that I put a doll that I recently purchased for a Christmas gift. Should be funny when he pulls the doll out. Will have to make sure I got the camera ready.
Tomorrow Lisa's tossing a party for him at the bowling alley. She's invited a few of his friends. I guess I'll pop in and take some photos. William is excited too. He asked if I would be his date for the party. I said sure.
The day Ben was born was only 3 days after 9/11. A horribly sad time. But we were all so happy that Ben was born. I remember feeling momentarily pangs of guilt for being so happy when the nation was mourning so many tragic losses.
He's our baby bird and I'm honored to watch him...

The Teacher says...

and that's precisely what Ben does at school. His first-grade teacher sends a monthly calendar home every day, showing how he behaved. If he is a good little boy, he gets a sticker. If he isn't...he gets a note describing his behavior. Out of 3 weeks of school, he's only received 4 stickers. His downfall is talking during their work periods.
My sister is at her wit's end. She's punished him by taking away privileges, ect. I've had several long talks with him. So has Mom and my brother. But nothing works. I don't think they will because Ben is a pack member. If someone else is doing it, he's right in there. According to the teacher's note, there are 4 boys getting into trouble for talking or acting silly. She breaks them apart but they still do things to make each other laugh. I can see Ben going along with this. He followed the crowd all during his pre-school years. Last year in Kindergarten a boy was pretending to wipe his butt with napkins during lunch. Ben jumps into the fray by doing it too. And gets in trouble along with the boy. Ben likes to be the center of attention, even if that means he'll get into trouble. Hell, he does it at home. I've witnessed it countless times and all Lisa does is call his name and give him a threatening look.
Friday is his birthday. He'll be six years old. Maybe he'll begin to calm down a bit. He's very immature for his age and I pray that he'll settle down and be a good boy. But it's not up to his mother or his family to make him do this. It has to come from inside Ben.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is back!

I love this show. Larry David is a flipping comedy genuis. My friend Doug turned me on to this series. He kept saying, "Watch it, you'll love it. Larry David has your sense of humor." So I finally watched an episode and promptly fell on the floor laughing. Mind you, the humor is dark and sly so many people won't find it humorous at all. In fact they'll think Larry is a (insert any insulting noun you can think of here).
I watched the premiere of the new series last night. Forgot to watch it Sunday. I won't spoil the storyline for those of you who may want to watch it after reading this. I'm sure HBO will run it to death this week, like they do any series. But in one part of the show, Larry and His wife Cheryl go to order a cake for a party they're throwing for a family they've adopted who lost their home in a hurricane. A friend of Larry's told them to go to this shop to get this delicious cake...and when they get there, they ask for the cake, dropping their friend's name. The guy pulls out the cake from his display case and voila...it's a huge chocolate penis cake. Larry promptly wiggs out and turns to his wife saying "He knowingly served us Penis."
Oh I fell on the floor with that one...
The show is great. Larry always gets in these crazy schemes usually by accident, because he has a loopy way of thinking and is a bit of a social outcast who's managed to stay in the graces of the Hollywood scene.
Watch it... if you don't find yourself laughing at some point, then maybe you should go buy yourself a sense of humor.
My horror scope says:
Your refrigerator is filthy. • Keep an eye out for rabid squirrels this month. • Your next Career: Serial Temp • It will rain tomorrow. Guaranteed.
What a Mess!

I saw the customized link and look what I did! I changed the font, ect and what a mess! I lost some things too. What's the saying? If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Maybe I will go with a completely different look... maybe even a different picture. So this is my goal for today...change the look of Painter Lady.
Hmmm... there's a button on my keyboard. Maybe I should click it!

Even Death

Death has no friends
only shadows and tears.
Love can't stop it.
I will die one day,
the bright light calling;
excited voices, murmurings.
But I will not go,
as long as your light
blinds my soul.
I will be the caress
at midnight; the kiss at dawn
and the sighs in between.
When you are weary,
I'll be the surge of strength
coursing your veins.
If you cry,
I'll be the river
rolling down your cheeks.
Every step, every breath
you take, I will
tremble through you.
Death cannot part
our souls sewn tight
with love's silken strands.
I love you intensely
with a flame death fears
and cannot extinguish.
Chuck Norris
Al and I were watching TV last night--mainly Football. But during the Cowboy game, Al kept flipping channels. We came across a documentary and stopped it on that. A total gym commercial came on--there's Chuck Norris pumping iron. I noticed his beard was gone and that his hair and 'stache were a funky shade of red.
So I asked Al: "Is that the real Chuck Norris?"
He said, "I know of only ONE Chuck Norris."
"But where's his beard? He has another fist behind his beard and it's gone.'
Al said, "WHATT???" while giving me the look--the one that he gives when he thinks I'm nuts.
Mulling it over, I said, "I guess he could have moved the fist. Maybe it's behind his 'stache...or under the hair of one of his armpits."
Al changed the channel back to the Cowboy game and said, "I think you think of this stuff just to torture me, because I never know if you're serious."
I smiled. "I don't. In fact I can think of better forms of torture that are much more pleasurable."

Dreams
I've been having crazy dreams these past few weeks. One sort of keeps recurring but with different variations.
Dream Version 1: "I'm on the street in front of the studio, talking to old High School classmates about having a class reunion and the studio catches on fire. I don't notice because all my attention is on the reunion and the building burns down itn the meantime. When I realize it's gone, I turn from my classmates to survey the damage in horror and when I turn back around to talk to them, they're gone.
Dream Version 2: Al and I are at a mall and we run into about 20 of my HS classmates. We discuss a reunion and in the meantime Al wanders off. Next thing I know we hear gunshots and someone is shooting at Al. I yell for my classmates to help me stop the person but they walk away.
Dream Version 3: The nephews and I are trying to all fit on the same bike..a tricycle. We're on a sidewalk by Walmart. I see some classmates and walk away to talk to them, telling the boys to stay by the tricycle. When I look back to check on the boys, they've disappearred. I frantically search for them in the parking lot, weeping and begging my old friends to help but they start talking amongst themselves. Luckily I find the boys playing in on the shopping carts left at the shopping cart return spot.
I know what this means.. I fear that I'm going to get sucked into a vaccum with the details of planning the reunion and it's going to affect my work and family and relationship. People swear they'll help me but I've learned the hard way that it's easy to say you'll help but hard to follow-through.

Sand

Sands
Sands are stirred
by the tide of our love;
lips locked with salt
and the essence of alabaster sighs.
Clouds long to weep,
overwhelmed by our passion;
the air so thick that
nothing can breathe, not even time.
Sands stirred, as we
break like the surf at our feet.
From above fingers watch
sea foam clinging to our toes: secrets kept.
Like temptest love,
the sea knows no mercy,
ripping the sand from under us
only to toss it back, grain by grain.

Pet Care
Customer service representatives answer straightforward pet care and nutrition questions, however some calls can be quite unconventional as follows:
- "My cat just came in from the garage and I was wondering...how many calories are in a mouse?"
- "I have a neutered male cat. How old should he be before I can breed him?"
- "What should I feed a borderline collie?"
- "What size litter box do I need to keep my cat comfy?"
- "Is it normal for a dog to shed?"
- "How can I keep my cat from stealing my husband's toothbrush?"
- "My cat passed a stool on the indoor rug and it's stuck in the vacuum cleaner. Any suggestions?"
- "How can I get the secret recipe for your special dog food?"
- "How do I stop my cat from giving food to the dog?"
- "Your food turned my dog into a stud. Now what do I do?"
- "Do you know how to toilet train a cat?"
- "I have three cats. Is it true that a special brand of cat food makes the poop smell better?"
- "Will chewing pop cans remove enamel from my puppy's teeth?"
- "Where can I get a six-toed cat?"

Watermelons

I was at the Walmart Sunday. Notice I put a 'the' in front of Walmart... don't really know why... anyways, I was walking by the produce section and had to stop by a bin of watermelons so that a crowd of Mexicans could get by me. Gathered around the watermelons were three blondse, trying to figure out how to test a watermelon's ripeness. A GI happened to pass by and overheard their discussion. He smiled and said, "You smell the ends of the watermelon. That's how you tell if it's ripe."
He walked off and I stood there for a few moments watching the blondes pick up watermelons and smell the ends. One of them said, "We should have asked him what it's suppose to smell like."
I glanced past the girls and saw the GI and a few of his buddies standing in the shadows, watching the girls and laughing their asses off.
You know...there should be a law against fucking with dingy blondes.

An Ode...
Ode to the Penis
Written in 1985
Oh sweet pleasure machine
you hardly are ever seen
packed inside a pair of tight jeans.
Though you don't look too lean,
if ever deprived I would turn quite mean;
rant and rave like an upset teen.
Oh heavenly member
I dearly do remember
all the passionate times
you were never limber
all hot and ready like a glowing ember.
Oh handsome prick
the one I'll always pick
to love, kiss and lick.
Who cares if your on Tom, Harry or Dick
as long as you're able
to give me a first-rate stick.
No other part of the anatomy
could bestow such a great kick.
Oh glorious cherry taker,
you create me a virtue forsaker.
I'll never be an orgasmic faker
cause of your assorted techniques,
you estacy maker.
Oh Blessed God,
Let my lovers all have a fine bod
with a hot loaded wad,
nothing antique but completely mod
with variated techniques
both standard and odd.
(I swear there should be a law against horny co-eds writing poetry
while drunk)

Taste
It's 1:45 pm and I can still taste your lust on my face;
the scent of copper and musk.
Mornings are the best time to feast on the sins of passion,
the tangy flavor of our mortal souls battling our desires.
There is little time for inhibitons that shiver in fear
of consuming fire ignited by our heat.
After we're spent, and morning light bathes us,
we'll find time to remember that daily life has arrived.
Somehow we'll survive it, because we have the taste of us
lingering, heavenly on our lips; passion's kiss burnt there.

A Great day so far...
I slept through the night without waking up for the first time in over a week. Don't have as much congestion as I did. I actually was in bed rather early last night. No Sudoku puzzles either.
Came to work early today because I thought I had missed a deadline. But I was ahead of the game and had already printed the order. So I did some stuff I needed for tomorrow and am ahead of my game. So I did some cleaning out of old files I don't need anymore and burned some I wanted saved to CDs.
But the best spot of my day was the moments I got to spend chatting with J. Always a smile there and I thank God for his friendship. He's one in a Million!

heyyyyy....

My squirmle couldn't drive a car. What's up with that?
I've got hidden meters on all my magazine pages. This month alone there have been over 100 hits on the squirmle article from the March 06 issue. Hmmm...does this mean there's a revival on the way? Or an invasion of sorts?

To You whom Keeps Mom in your Wallet
Dear Person of Sentimentality,
I realize that you love your special someones and have a compulsive need to keep them near to you in form of a photograph stuffed tightly in your wallet. If you are a man, you keep them close to what is dearest--the back pocket of your trousers. As a photographic restoration artist, I must inform you that placing your prized photograph in your wallet and sitting on it for most of the day isn't the best place for it. Are you aware that it is rubbing against other bits of papers and photos? This creates stress on your photo and damage that is irreversible? When deep creases are created and chunks of paper become missing, it is very costly to repair. And if the damage is severe (especially after 30 years of sitting on the photo), sometimes it is impossible to repair.
Ladies who stuff their prized photos in their wallets along with coupons, phone numbers and receipts aren't as prone to having their photos damages as men are who sit on their photos. But the risk is there as well.
Take some advice. Stop what you're doing. Reach into your wallet and check the photos you find there. Are they beginning to lose their lustre? If so take them out as soon as you get home. Go out and buy a non-adhesvie photo album and place said prized photo into it.
If there is minor or major damage to the photo, take it to the nearest photography studio or lab that offers restoration to photographs. The sooner it's repaired will increase the life of your cherished photo.
Believe me, in the end it will be worth it. Just ask the thousands of customers I've helped.

Robo Cough
I'm not sure which is the best: coughing up gunk or blowing it out. Seems my head congestion has decided to find a new home... my chest. I woke up coughing early this morning. I guess the reward of the lunar eclipse was worth it. But when I tried to get back to sleep, my cough kept me up.
So I'm a bit tired today. When I got to work, I had just finished putting out the cashbox and checking messages, when a huge cough struck me so hard that the muscles across my chest and stomach, my arms to my fingers and down my legs burned so horribly from the strain/force of the cough that tears rolled down my eyes and I fell into a chair I was luckily standing beside. I don't think I've ever had such a violent cough in all my life. It took about 5 minutes to recover and I can still feel the effects in my fingers as I type and the cough was an hour and 15 minutes ago.
It would benefit me to move away from here. I realize that the swamps are no place to live near. The ocean would be idea or maybe the mountains. If I had the choice, it would be the beach area. I am not much of a hillbilly.

T-shirt

A printing company offerred me a free T with my company info, etc on it. I had to pay shipping but that's no biggie. I decided to do a T promoting my art and my webiste. Here's a preview of it. If it looks good in person, I will probably order a few of them. Their price on printed T-shirts is reasonable. Only drawback was I had to use one of their graphic designs.
waiting...
I'm waiting for Dad's camera to finish charging so I can upload some copies he did for me...
Since yahoo bestow upon us the gift of unlimited storage, I haven't been deleting email. The count is up to 1145 and I've slowly and painstakingly been sorting through it all. What a mess! I hate doing stuff like this.
Recently I've been getting a lot of Yahoo 360 invites. I've got a page on 360 but rarely do anything with it. The same with my 'myspace' page. I really do prefer blogger. I guess I should spread myself around to all audiences. Like butter, baby!

Monday
Seems like it was just here a week ago!
School started today. The boys were getting bored. Being back in a routine will be good for them. I dread all the homework William will bring home this year.
I worked for a while Saturday. Didn't get to Al's until around 3:30 or so. He was in a blah mood all weekend. I think his lawsuit against the woman who totaled his car isn't going all that great. Seems his health insurance company screwed him over and won't pay some of the medical bills he incurred. About $7000 worth! He didn't want to talk about it to me. Instead he went into his cave and was quiet most of the weekend. I didn't try to force him to talk. He always comes to me when he's ready to vocalize, so I kept myself busy ...after all, I had Sudoku.
This morning as I tried to get on the road in time to allow a stop at the gas station and a stop at BK for some coffee, he decides to talk about things. I wanted to pull his ears off because he decides to talk at the worst possible time. But I stopped and listened and gave him comfort and encouraging words. (Do you think there were enough 'and's in that sentence?)
As I was leaving, he gave me a huge hug, kiss and said, "You're the only person I can count on, Sherrie. I love you."
It took my breath away, because he doesn't say that often.
In the past, I tried to fix his problems even when I knew he had to do it himself. Now, I know I can't fix them and I don't force the issue. I'm there to listen and if I can help, I will.
Anyways... Monday is here. Hot and humid... and so begins another week.

I am addicted to Sudoku. In fact, I've been trying cut back. For a while I wouldn't go to sleep until I ran into a sudoku that stumped me. Sometimes it would take 8 to 10 puzzles and an hour or so before that happened. Allen teased me about loving sudoku more than I did him, so I stopped doing them at his house.
Last weekend, he had a present for me. A giant sudoku book of over 300 puzzles. I was amazed. I said, "Well, I'm trying to cut back. Thanks anyway." I resisted the urge to do a few.
When he called last night to check on me, I asked if we had any big plans for the weekend. He said, "I plan to watch football games. But I need to check and see who's playing."
"But...we didn't do much last weekend. You were too sick to go anywhere." I was really disappointed.
He said, "You've got a new sudoku book. That should keep you busy."
The reason for his gift was suddenly apparent.

I've gone through a case of kleenex but I feel better today. Sinus pain and pressure is gone. Still draining though, which is causing me to caught. So I'm sipping green tea and contemplating how intimate a kleenex can feel.
I made some homemade Hot & Sour soup last night, which I believe did the trick. I'm glad I feel better. There's not much worse than going into the weekend with aches and pains, because we all know weekends are for pleasure.

Yummm

So I'm a bit of a pervert... This is Sportacus. He's the superhero of Lazytown. A kids' show the nephews love to watch. I told them to call him "Uncle Sportacus" because I'm gonna marry him one day.

The things he and I could do.... the positions we could master.... I need a cold shower

I once had a crush on Captain Feathersword from the Wiggles...but it was over pretty fast. He's just tooooo goofy.

You're cool and collected, even when someone really gets under your skin. And while you don't blow up when you're angry, you know how to express your anger calmly. You don't bottle emotions up or let them get out of control. For you, violence would never be an option. |
My head

aches...
Can't see the doctor until Friday morning! I feel like sleeping. Should have brought a bed to work with me.
Had a long blog post typed out but I accidentally clicked the return to list of posts link and it's lost. This morning I couldn't log onto blogger. Kept getting error messages. No complains. Chatted briefly with J instead. So ... there's no loss at all... except blogger's.
I've got Ben with me this afternoon. He's on the old PC playing "Pajama Sam" games. He's quiet as a mouse. Later, we're heading home to celebrate Mom's birthday. It was yesterday but she and my sister had Open House at the daycare and we couldn't celebrate. I kept the boys and we listened to Disney Radio and danced to the songs.
Wildfires
Wildfires
We're still sufferring from them. Monday night the smoke was very thick. I worried about the house for a while, until I drove around the neighborhood and talked to some guys who always know what's going on. They told me there were several fires burning within a 3 mile radius. I was afraid they were closer. So far so good... none have threatened the house.
We're in a very bad drought. Lord, please make it rain. Amen.

A Full Moon Fumbles
A full moon fumbles across a cloudy night,
like an over-excited lover's
fingers slipping over buttons.
And I wonder where you are,
man of mountains and steel?
Forbidden love a touch of sin...
We once filled nights with sighs
and pressed thighs so close
we appeared as one soul.
Our tongues beat a slow tango
into the air around us,
never missing a sultry beat.
Love was our duty,
Lust was our crime and
we find a happy medium between.
Then one day we drifted
like slow clouds at dusk,
allowing moonlight to fumble over stars.
like an over-excited lover's
fingers slipping over buttons.

Some Country Music Song Titles...
Readers of New York magazine were asked to invent country-song titles. Here are some entries:
- Ain't No Trash In My Trailer Since The Night I Threw You Out
- You Wanted To Get Hitched, But My Heart Is Filled With Whoa
- Baked My Sweetie A Pie, But He Left With A Tart
- I Lost My Honey Bunny On A Bad Hare Day
- She Chews Tobacco, But She Didn't Choose Me
- The Peach I Picked In Georgia Didn't Cling To Me For Long
- Don't Want That Floozy In My Jacuzzi
- I Found The Recipe For Heartbreak In A Cookbook On Your Shelf
- Now That We're Miserable, I Hope You're Happy
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I for one do not care much for Country music. Give me some good ole Rock and Roll, baby. But my sister loves Country. She made me listen to it when we drove up to Chapel Hill when Dad was there. I remember one song that made me cry..it was about 17 video cassettes that a father made, because he knew he was gonna die before his son was born. How sad...and after that I toned the other songs out... except the one Reba made with Kelly Clarkson or whatever her name is. Reba blew her out... Kelly sounded like a backup singer.
Anyways...on with the show.

Sunburn
...is my name.
My sister and I took the boys to Holden Beach yesterday. That's right....you heard correct. I took a day off. We had a blast. Except I got a bad case of sunburn on my shoulders and back. So bad I had trouble sleeping last night. I usually use 15 SF lotion but my sister sprayed me with dark tanning oil that has a sunfactor of 4.
So I burned... it was partly my fault, because I assumed she was using the same high SF stuff on me that she used on the nephews. I didn't feel the burn until I got home.
Anyway, I dealing with it. Wearing a strapless sundress. Thought the mailman was gonna ravish me on the front desk when he came in today.
But we had so much fun yesterday. The boys did great. They even packed their pirate costumes (Jack Sparrow wig and clothes) and brought them along. William's reasoning was that if a pirate ship showed up, they would be prepared to join them. Real pirates don't wear swim trucks.
After about 3 hours, we packed up Lisa's SUV and drove over to see Granny. She was happy to see us and we stayed about 45 mins. She was having a good day and seemed very coherent. I'm glad we dropped in.
Well, I think I may leave work early today. The sunburn is driving me nuts. And I feel like sitting on the couch and watching Lazytown on Demand. I swear I could eat Sportacus for dinner.

Bad Leg
A man goes into the doctor. He says, "Doc, you gotta check my leg. Something's wrong. Just put your ear up to my thigh, you'll hear it!"
The doctor cautiously placed his ear to the man's thigh, only to hear, "Gimme 20 bucks. I really need 20 bucks."
"I've never seen or heard anything like this before. How long has this been going on?" The doctor asked.
"That's nothing Doc. Put your ear to my knee."
The doctor put his ear to the man's knee and heard it say, "Man, I really need 10 dollars. Just lend me 10 bucks!!"
"Sir, I really don't know what to tell you. I've never seen anything like this." The doctor was dumbfounded.
"Wait Doc, that's not all. There's more, just put your ear up to my ankle," the man urged him.
The doctor did as the man said and was blown away to hear his ankle plead, "Please, I just need 5 dollars. Lend me 5 bucks, please, if you will."
"I have no idea what to tell you. There's nothing about it in my books," he said, as he frantically searched all his medical reference books.
"I can make a well educated guess though," he continued. "Based on life and all my previous experience, I can tell you that your leg seems to be broke in three places."

I think this joke is so bad and it's funny as hell.

TGIF
I'm lazy today. Been sitting on one of the sofas in the waiting area, watching cars parallel park. Didn't have my grade book, so I couldn't give out points.
I have to work tomorrow, so I don't know why I'm glad it's Friday. This morning while I was getting ready for work, my brother was listening to the radio and "Don't tell me you love me" by Night Ranger came on... it reminded me of Rafters and the time I asked DJ Jeff Diamond to dedicate that song to a guy who kept telling me he was in love with me...lol...and the crazy part is that he didn't get the message.

Wildfire
I left work early yesterday...around 4:30 and before I could get out of town, 3 fire trucks raced pasted me heading towards Alamac Road. I thought it was an accident. Never considered that the wildfire we had a week or so ago had rekindled.
As I got closer to home I could see a huge cloud of smoke. About half a mile from my house, I pulled over to let 2 more firetrucks, a state trooper and a forestry truck loaded with long ladders rush past me.
I estimate that I was about 2 miles from the fire. Here's the article. Though on an update, they've gotten it under control. Mom and I sat outside until dark, watching the helicopters fly overhead with water. Trying to contain the fire.
Mom suggestedt that we get stuff together, just incase the fire races our way. But I didn't think it would get that far, because it had a huge intersection to cross and a lot of mobile homes to eat first.
I didn't see any huge smoke clouds this morning and was thankful that prayers had been answered.

Change and other odds and ends...
Have you ever felt change coming your way? Sure there are ways to avoid it but there are times when you can't. Change can be good.
Change is coming my way. I feel this deep within me and I am excited. There are moments when you wish you had a new path to take. There are moments when you have a new path to take but can't, for whatever reason. But for me, I know I will take the new path. Everyone needs to grow, to thrive to become the best they can.
It is time for me to do this. For myself. Not for others.

Yesterday I left some yahoo groups I've been a member of for a thousand years. I even deleted a few of my smaller ones. I don't write as much as I used too, but I hope to become more active in a few of the ones I really love....like my starry starry night journal. It was the first place I could write what I felt and not worry about upsetting others, because as a journal it was only mine...mine alone. Time to return to my roots.

In about a week and a half, I'm going to see one of my online pals who moved closer to me a few years ago. Lady BJ. She lives in Wilmington. I visited her a few times in the past and she's come to see me too. But we both got involved with relationships and let them keep us from sharing good times. She likes to write and paint, too. So we're going to compare art and writings. Of course do some shopping, as well as hitting the beach. Ah the life...and I could use the time off.

Dad seems to be doing better. So far no smoking. He's still eating little debbie cakes for breakfast and for lunch, he's been eating potato chips. I keep stressing that he should get some fruit. I know he's going to fall back into the old habits because he's feeling a lot beter. But I hate to see it happen. Maybe his guardian angel can continue to keep him safe.

Squirrel

Squirrels are silly little animals. When they try to run across the street and a car is coming towards them, most of the time they can't commit to going across. They turn back.
William and I were driving up Alamac Road towards town, when a squirrel darted into the road before us. I slowed down to give him room to turn back, but this squirrel didn't. He took a flying leap into the oncoming traffic. William and I watched in horror as the squirrel flew into the front passenger wheel of the car and was flung aroung it and then cast off like a stone. There was no way it could have lived, even William knew this. So I didn't try to hide the death. His big brown eyes teared up and he asked why didn't I blow the horn. As if this was my fault.
I pulled into a drive and turned off the truck. Taking his hand I tried to explain how animals don't know that vehicles are dangerous. This was no one's fault.
I don't know if I got through. He dried his eyes and we went on our way. Since then I keep seeing that squirrel leaping straight into the wheel. I wish for once, it had turned back to the safety of the grass on the side of the road.

Quote of the Day
by Lillian Hellman (1905 - 1984)
It it not good to see people who have been pretending strength all their lives lose it even for a minute.

Ketchup and Salt
But Sunday was pleasant. My siblings and I took my dad out to dinner. We ate at the Cracker Barrel. Al drove down this weekend, since I couldn't be there. Lisa and her family were 20 minutes late. I think from now on, I'm going to add 30 mins to any time she says she'll meet me. Then she'll be ontime and we won't have to wait so long.
William sat beside me while Al sat on the other side. Ben almost cried because he wanted to sit with me too. After he finished eating, he came over and stood beside my chair, talking to me and Al.
Al told him " I think with some ketchup and salt, you would make a perfect snack. You better not stand close to a ketchup bottle, if I get hungry later." Ben thought he was serious. I laughed, especially when William asked for more ketchup and I put the bottle on the table beside Ben. He ran away and said, "Move it Aunt Sherrie. Alwin is gonna eat me."
Neither he or William would eat their steak fries. I saw that Al had ordered some too and told them "Guys, if you eat your fries, you'll grow moustaches like Allen's." They ate them and ate what Al didn't eat. Later William asked if he had any hair over his lip yet.
Everyone had a nice dinner. The waitress even sang for us. I felt very close to my family. Glad that we could make Dad forget his troubles for a while and enjoy himself.

Metal
Feels as if a lifetime has passed since July 31. Dad ended up at the UNC Hopsital Wednesday. He had 5 different blockages in his heart. The doctor said that he was surprised Dad hadn't had a massive heart attack. But they're fixed with angioplasty. The stents they used have to have Plavix with them..The prescription costs close to $150 for a month's supply and Dad's about to have a fit. I don't know if he'll stop smoking. I overheard him and a friend talking and Dad told him that smoking wasn't the reason he had blockage.
He's wrong, but it's not the total reason. Not exercising, not eating healthy and stressing also have contributed. He's ignoring what all the doctors said ...which was 'Stop smoking.' Plus the literature they sent which stressed in big letters. "Don't smoke if you have stents."
He and I have already had a few arguements over this. I don't understand it. Why does he want to feel awlful all the time and not live a life that is full of quality. Life is so precious.
I've decided to quit worrying about what he does. I feel as if I nag him all the time about things he does, like the smoking and eating those little debbie cakes for meals. But Mom pointed out that if I didn't love him I wouldn't give be doing it. And she's right.
There are times when I think that maybe I should move on from the studio. Start thinking of myself and let Dad sort out things here. Isn't my sanity worth saving? Do I stay with his sinking ship also know as his health? I think he would be forced to retire if I weren't here helping him limp over the bridge. But how do I shrug off my feelings of responsibility and loyalty? How do I look at my overflowing cup and say...when?

Beta? You Betcha
I'm not sure I like Beta stuff. A spyware program I use has gone to beta and I can't make heads or tails out of it. Glad I kept the older version. And yahoo messenger... it's beta and I can't keep it logged on for some stupid reason.
So what's the big deal about Beta? Does anyone know or do you really care!
That's what I thought.

William on ....
being right or wrong.
Saturday, William was playing one of the PS2 football games that my brother has. He wanted me to watch and so I did for a while. The defense blocked a pass by the quarterback and I said, "William, that pass was blocked."
He said, "HUH?"
I said, "When the quarterback throws a pass and the defense stops it. It's called a block."
"No. It's a flag."
"Most of the time, a flag is thrown down. But it's really a block."
"No...a flag, Sheerie."
and so the arguement went on... until he said, "I'm trying to correct you and you're trying to incorrect me."
Well, what can I say... sheer brilliance. I realized then that William's gonna have his own form of secret language.

End of July
Today is my sister's birthday. Happy B-day, Sis!(I wrote this like she reads here..lol) Oh well...
We had a birthday dinner for her last night. Home-made spaghetti with meatball sauce. Was very yummy. And cake, though I didn't care for all the frosting. Makes the cake too sweet.
Granny has been visiting since last Friday. She's going home this Saturday. I miss the old Granny. The one who talked and talked...the one who got jokes and made them. I miss hearing about the old days and the stories of her youth..and even though I've heard them a zillion times, I still want to hear them over and over. Now, she's just a shell of herself. She walks around in a daze, as if trying to remember her purpose. My heart cries. Alzheimer's is so terrible.
Dad goes in for his heart catherization tomorrow. I'm taking the day off to go with him, since my sister or my aunt can't. He thought he could work afterwards. I put my foot down and told him that if he doesn't rest at home, I would quit my job because I don't want to see him bleed to death. So he's going to go home like a good dad and rest. He may think he's fooling everyone, but I know that if he could come to work afterwards, it wouldn't be for work...it would be to get sympathy. He sure likes his with gatorade.
I sound so disgruntled. I'm not...just stressed and that's what a blog's for...venting about anything.

"All that you love will be carried away"
When I first saw the above as a title to a story in Stephen King's Short story book called "Everything's Eventual." I didn't read it... not until last night and I've had the book for a few years.
I figured it was about love gone bad and didn't really want to read it, because I had a thirst for blood and read some of the other obvious bloody stories.
But last night, I flipped through the book and it landed on the story... page 69!
And I was surprised by it..the title is actually a piece of graffiti that the salesman in the story, Alfie Zimmerman has been collecting from reststops and rest rooms across the US for 7 years. And as the story unfolds, we find that he's got cancer and is going to kill himself. But the notebook of graffiti keeps distracting him...
I won't say anymore but it's a great story...one of his low-key ones that are often overlooked, like the novel "The Girl who loved Tom Gordon."
But there's some great graffiti in the book. Like:
"My mother made me a whore."
And written underneath is in a different penmanship :
"If I supply the yard will she make me one too?"
Priceless!
In the short story, Alfie has been longing to put his collection in a book and wondered is people would buy it.
I would, Alfie. I would.

Speaking of Poetry
A while back James O'Barr asked me to contribute some poems for a book he's putting together of his art. I said I would and for him to let me know when I needed to send them. He hadn't written since then and I figured he had changed his mind, until I talked to Sam a few weeks ago. Sam said James did some art for his chapbooks for San Diago Comic-con. And during their correspondence, James mentioned me 'Fairy Sherrie' and that he was waiting on some poems from mefor a book he's putting together.

Like the Lumberyard guy says...
...black armbands for me and my friends.
Martha, my friend who worked at the bakery for years... my friend who had a son that was murdered a few summers ago...my friend who's gone through much and still kept a smiling face has died. She was only 54.
A diabetic ....whose kidneys shut down suddenly over the weekend and never regained consciousness has died.
I've written about her and her husband Jerry. I've written about the murder at the convenient store...
I feel sad and full of regret because I haven't seen her since April. And I should have at least called to say hi.
God bless her family. I don't know how Jerry will survive without her guiding hand...my heart bleeds for his loss.

So many minutes
...so little time!
Well, I don't know where to start.
My Mom is doing great. She's past the danger of the blood clot in her leg moving and is back at work. Though she is favoring her leg a bit. I told her that it would take some time for it to be like 'before' and not to rush into 'big projects' where she's on her feet for long extended time periods. We'll see if she listens to me.
My brother is home from Georgia. He had a great visit and was happy to be back. I didn't tell him I crashed the PC, which is fixed btw. No.. I didn't have to tell him because, the nephews did. Those tattle tells!
I visited my old college roomie last Wednes. She and most of her extended family were vacationing at Long Beach, NC. We had a nice visit. I hadn't seen her in 5 years and her kids are adorable. They had a total of 21 adults and 19 kids, all under 12. Guess who I spent a lot of time with...that's right...the kids. I must be a kid magnet. But it was fun and I hope to see her in a few years. On the way home, as I drove through Green Swamp (Half expecting Big Foot to jump out at me), I thought about how she and I were like sisters. Always thinking we would be as close as sister ...even closer. But now, we aren't. We talked about the past and caught up on average things, like work and family. But after awhile we searched for things to talk about. The conversation wasn't as fluid as it was during our Greenville days. I miss that. After I left, I realized just how much and I was sad for the rest of the drive.
But one can't expect life to stay the same. Life goes on. Places and faces change and we adjust to this, even if we never think we will.
Poor Al is getting over a very bad case of poison sumac. I told William about it and he said, "He needs adult supervision when he's outside. And he should look at plants and make sure they aren't posionous. Because in nature, some plants are. Even I know that!"
Needless to say, I lost it when he said that. A big speech for him.
I saw the Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix movie. Not that bad. I give it a B minus. They had to cut a lot of it. I realize that and it's too bad. But since Movie 3, I've come to expect it and am able to separate myself from the love I have for the books and am able to enjoy the movies for what they are. Abridged versions.
Now.. I am reading the last book and find myself mourning. I haven't looked at the last page, so I don't know what will happen yet. But I think Harry will live--but I think he'll have to die to live because his scar is a Horcrux. I've figured that much out... how else could the big V die, yet live.... and also I think Snape is good. Too many signs point in the other direction but I wonder if others have caught on how Snape swipes at James Potter whenever he is angry with Harry and never once mentions Lily? I think because he really cared for her... even if he called her a mudblood when they were young and at Hogwarts.
I just hope that they don't kill off Dobby. He's one of my favorites. I wish they had used him more in the movies. But I bet they will. J K Rowlings will sacrifice some of the 'minor' characters. I would if I were writing this story. And it would be at a cost for my main characters... after all this is pure evil they are dealing with.
Man, how I went on about that...see what happens when you let your fingers do the walking??

Suggestive Food

Last night William and I watched Funniest Pets and People a rip-off of America's Funniest Video show. I had a segment that had a guy showing off a tomato which looked like a penis and nugget sacks (the words on the screen said "Suggestive Food".
William turned to me and asked, "Sheerie (he calls me Sheer-ie, not Sher-rie), are Suggestive Foods good for you?"
I had no answer to that.

The Pope says...
Other Christian Churches "are wounded?" Not true churches?
Oh God... please don't tell my fire-breathing Southern Baptist Granny! She'll try to jump in the Popemobile and set him straight.

Theme Sundays
I had a decent weekend, especially since Mom's on the mend. We had a horrific rain storm Saturday as I drove to Fayetteville up I-95. Traffic drove at a crawl and I prayed all the way. The DOT has been working on the road and the shoulder was non-existent, so I couldn't pull over. When I got to Al's I almost kissed the ground.
I didn't cook Saturday night. Al had some left-overs and ate them. I made a spinach salad and ate that. We sat and talked about different things and waited for the Power Ball number to be called. We won a ticket. I had a good feeling about two numbers and surprising they were two of the numbers they picked... 21 and 27.
Sunday I slept in. I got up at 11 am and Al picked on me for being a sleepy head. He had already ate breakfast, so I made a sandwich and ate some kiwi. He left and did a few errands while I got a shower and made plans for dinner later. When he got back, he wanted lunch and since I had just ate, he made a sandwich.
While I watched him make it, I suggested things that would make our Sundays more interesting ...like doing a theme. I said, "You know, we could make Sunday's more interesting...like doing a theme. Say... next Sunday we'll wear hats. And the Sunday after that, we'll only say words that begin with a P."
He laughed. Al's still sporting his beard, which gave me an idea... "Hey and the Sunday after that we can have Beard Day...braid our beards and put jewels and stuff on them."
He scratched his beard and said, "You don't have a beard."
"Have you ever heard of a clam beard?"
"Yes, it's that fuzzy thing on clams and mussels that you have to clean off when you cook them."
"No, it's a 'hairy' lucy."
He actually stopped putting mayo on his sandwich and stared at me. "A Lucy?"
"You know...my... er... kitty cat...er.. female pleasure zone."
He fell over laughing. "Pleasure zone."
"Yes, well when it's hairy... I mean really hairy, I call it a bearded clam."
"That's totally scary. I'll never eat clams again. Nor look at a female pleasure zone for fear it will grab me. You've ruined it for me, Shere Bears."
"Don't know why..." I said, "Your clam digger is perfectly safe."
We were quiet for a while, until it dawned on me..."Hey, we better make Bearded Sunday sometime in September. Because it will take it take long for my beard to grow."
Al doesn't know it yet, but this Sunday's theme is going to be 'whipped cream.'

oh...
and I forgot to say this....
my cell phone is web ready, meaning I can check my email on yahoo, etc. So if you are on my friends list and see me visible (Because those who IM with me know I am ALMOST always invisible) after 5 pm and on the weeknds. That means I'm on my cell phone and if you send an IM that doesn't mean I'll get it right away. So please don't get pissed off if I don't reply. Send an email. I'll get it quicker...

The 6th of ...today
I never realized how much I really used my PC at home until I couldn't. Nothing has worked on fixing the winlogon.exe... so now I have to buy a new product key code and reinstall XP. Sucks eggs but that's life. And what did Shere learned? She learned not to touch things she shouldn't without proper supervision.
Dad got Mom an appointment to see his doctor Monday. And the doctor promptly sent her to the hospital where she stayed until yesterday afternoon. She did have a deep venous thrombosis aka a blood clot and was given shots for a few days and then released. She has to give herself shots for a few more days and take the meds they gave her. After she recuperates, the doctor is going to do some tests to find out why she keeps having blood clots. I'm so thankful for Dad's influence. I had called that morning..trying to get her in but there were no appointments until Friday and I was so afraid the blood clot would move. She's at my house and doing a lot better. I think she's going to go to her boyfriend's house over the weekend. If not, Lisa and the boys will be there most of the time.
As for Dad...he got what he has wanted for the last two years.... blockage. As I've written before, Dad's been trying to get the doctors to tell him he needs a catherization (aka Stints) for the last two years and three different doctors could not find any blockage. Their advise was to stop smoking, stop stressing, diet properly and exercise, which he hasn't done... and this time, they did find blockage. He goes for a sonogram next Wedn and then at the end of the month, they'll do a catherization. I pray that this time, Dad will listen to the doctors and try to take better care of himself.
Al's finally over his diverticulitis. We had a great 4th. Went to his cousin's house for a BBQ. They had some great food. That morning Al and I had a long lingering exotic moment and I swear it stayed with me all day. I was walking around on clouds. When it got too hot outside, we went in and sat around talking and eating Watermelon. I was seated on the couch with the teens and Al sat at an angle from me by the fireplace. I couldn't stop looking at him and grinning. When he caught me, he would grin widely and we would sort of laugh. I'm sure everyone wondered what was going on. When we got home that night and after I called and checked on Mom, we turned in for the night and neither of us said anything. We wrapped ourselves around each other and fell asleep.
Sometimes my heart spills over when I look at him... how can I possibly love this man as much as I do?

I'm a big Dum Dum Dummy Head
I sure hope July is a hellova lot better than June. If it isn't, I'm running away to join the circus or maybe become a gropie of a rock n roll band...I mean groupie.
Here's the list of bad things that happened since my last blog:
1) Granny was in the hospital for a few days with a blood clot in each lung. She's home now and doing ok...weak and drained but living.
2) The CPU fan on the PC at home burned out. (Had to replace it--total cost wasn't too bad.. just $72.03.
3) Mom has been struggling with Thrombophlebitis for over 2 weeks now. She's not getting better and I can't find a doctor that accepts new patients. She went to the local Urgent Care and I swear those dingalings should be put out of business. Dad's over at his doctor's office now, trying to get her an appointment.
4) Al's Diverticulitis flaired up all last week. He was find Sat and it struck again yesterday. Today's he's still not feeling all that great.
5)Like a big dum dum dummy head, I was messing with a spyware program I have that checks your whole system...and looking in the processs section I saw "winlogon.exe" and remembered it as a virus I had on my PC awhile back and deleted it. Only to find out that there is a legit process with the same name and now my PC at home keeps rebooting and won't even reboot in safe mode. Which sucks...but what sucks worse is that I can't find the system recovery CD to repair it with. So I'm gonna try to use the CD from this computer (my work pc) and see if it will let me repair it. I asked a question about it in yahoo answers and was told I could do it. If not, I guess I'll have to take it back to the shop.
I think I'll stop there for now. Enough whining.

Feeling like...
me again. Well, almost.
I haven't been this sick in a long time. I guess a combination of stress, working too many hours and allergies helped push me over the sick edge.
My brother's been calling me wheezy. Today is the first day I have been able to breathe without sounding like the toy penguin in Toy Story one. So he'll have to come up with another nickname.
Father's Day was nice. We went to Ruby Tuesday and ate with Dad. I sat with Ben and William. We colored the racing booklet the hostess gave them and I thought Ben that yellow and blue make green. So everything ended up being green on his page. Before we left, William asked "Do I go home with you or do I have to go with her?" He inclined his head towards his mother. I said.. "not with me." He replied, "Oh Maaaannnn!" Lisa didn't get offended at all. I wonder if she realizes how much that kid loves being at my house.
In fact, Monday night he stayed with me. I barely made it through work and was barely able to get home. When I saw him sitting in the den, I wanted to call Lisa and tell her to come get him. But I couldn't. He was so happy to see me. He made me sit down and proceeded to tell me about some movie involving a monkey. Later we watched America's Funniest Videos and there was a rather large woman giving a great impression of a barking dog. I looked at William to see what sort of reaction she was getting from him. He sat frowning and then turned to me and said, "I think she swallowed a dog."
Yes... I lost it ... laughing until I started coughing and then sort of doing a strange mixture of both. I swear that kid brings joy to my life.
But today I feel better. Been reading "Hannibal Rising." I'm sure I'll write more on it once the books over.
Also trying to break my Suduko addiction. Even when I was too sick to get out of bed, I still managed to do some of the puzzles in my big book of 400. Course I screwed a few up but will work on sorting them out later.
The CPU fan in the PC at home went out Thursday. I admitted it to the PC hospital yesterday. The PC is 5 years old. Seems like we just got it. I hope they can fix it without too much trouble. My brother is bugging me about it already.

Yard Sale
My yard sale went well. Made about $200. Sold 3/4 of my junk. I met some nice people who live close to Al. He had to work but helped me get everything out and in front of the garage.
My brother gave me all his heavy metal cassettes to sell. (He's transferring his collection into CDs) 4 cassette holders of them--which hold about 80 cassettes each. I put them behind my chair because most of the yard sale birds were ladies over 50 and old retired men. I knew none of them would want any metal. I'm pretty sure they would have given the cassettes the evil eye like they did my tarot stuff. One lady wouldn't touch anything on the book table because I had some tarot books on it.
Anyway, it was around noon and I was tired. Almost ready to give it up, when 3 cars drove up and everyone piled over to the tables to look at my junk...hoping to find a treasure. I was talking to an elderly lady about garden tools (she was searching yard sales for some. I had none) when I heard two guys crumbling that none of the yard sales had 'manly stuff.' One of the women with them said, "if you did find manly stuff...you can't buy it. You hardly have any money."
SO I look over and...I see Baseball caps (The Atlanta Braves) covering badly cut mullets. T-shirts that read "AC/DC" and "Oz Feast". Metal Heads. So I said, "Hey dudes, look behind the Carolina chair." They rushed over and immediately I heard the case drawers being opened and joyous cries of "On Man, Black Sabbath...the whole collection" "Dude, Y&T.... All their cassettes..." and so on.
I turned to help a lady bag her purchases (she bought all my worn out bedroom slippers..lol.. I was going to turn them out and I'm glad I didn't) when I felt a touch on my arm. The guys were standing there, looking hopeful and holding out their hands. In them were crumpled dollar bills and every coin imaginable. The AC/DC guy said, "How much for the whole collection?" You know, they were so hopeful. I said, "Whatever you got in your hands." They pushed the money into mine and took off with glee.
After they left, I counted it. $8.89. lol... long live metal....cassettes.

A Nervous New Priest
There was a new priest that gave his first sermon in a new church. He was so nervous during his sermon, he could barely talk. After the sermon, he went down to the pulpit to visit the veteran priest of the church. He told the veteran priest about his nervousness and asked what he could do to make his next sermon run more smoothly the next week.
The elder priest told him, "Try putting some vodka in your water glass at your podium to sip on. Things should go much better for you if you do." The young priest decided to take the elder priest's advice and put vodka in his glass by the podium, instead of water.
The following week the priest did just what the elder priest suggested. His sermon went so well, he was very proud of himself. He went down to the pulpit, after the sermon, to thank the elder priest for his helpful advice. The elder priest was not there, instead he found a letter on the desk. It read:
1. Next time sip the vodka, do not gulp!
2. David "slew" Goliath, he did not beat the shit out of him.
3. Next week we have a taffy pulling contest in St. Pete, not a peter pulling
contest at St. Taffie's.
4. We do not reffer to the cross as the "Big T"
5. We do not call the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; "Big Daddy, Jr., and
the Spook."
7. When saying prayer at Sunday dinner, do not say "Rub-a-dub-dub, thanks for
the grub!"
8. We do not call Jesus and his diciples, "JC and the Boys."
9. And last but not least, it's the Virgin Mary, not "Mary with the cherry."

Reunion
I've been talked into organizing our HS class reunion. Last year was 25 years, but we didn't have one. I don't have time to get it organized for this year, so I'm going to start working on our rooster next month. Maybe I'll create a myspace site for our class... something to consider since so many people are on myspace. Plus there's classmates.com and I'm a member there.
Some people have offered to help... we'll see if they follow through. I'm going to do all the major decisions. Because no matter what goes right or wrong, I'll get blamed for it. And if it's something I did, I don't mind...but if it's something someone else did, that's a different story. But what can you do... look at the President...he get's blamed for everything from the price of milk rising to the greenhouse effect. (yea.. I'm exaggerating..sue me.)
The last reunion was fun and we had about a fourth of our class there. This reunion I want to pull in at least 50% if not more...

| Your Power Element is Water |
Your power colors: blue and aqua Your energy: deep Your season: winter Like the ocean, you evoke deep feelings and passion. You have an emotional, sensitive, and spiritual soul. A bit mysterious, you tend to be quiet when you are working out a problem. You need your alone time, so that you can think and dream. |
| You Are a Red Wine Woman |
You're not a big drinker, and when you do drink, you go for the best. You probably know a good deal about wines, and you know how to order a great bottle. When you drink too much, you tend to flirt - but only in a subtle, understated way. You prefer to date a man who's worldly and wise. He's got to be as sophisticated as you are. |

Heat
Summer is here alright.. temps are in the mid 90's. Countdown to the end of school is... 3 days away. I've had teens swarming around, picking up prom photos. I think some of them have forgotten how to say "Thank you" or "You're welcome." It reminds me of that movie "take the lead" with Antonio Banderas--the movie where he teaches ballroom dancing to deliquent teens. They were lacking manners when he began and at the end, they were graceful and elegant, etc...all because of ballroom dancing. Maybe some of the kids should take this up at our local High Schools.
I went into the attic last night and found 5 bags of clothes I forgot I had put up there: Summer dresses, shoes, shorts and tops. Plus some houseware stuff. I had the most fun going through them. Some of it is going on the yard sale, but not all. I feel as if I went shopping. I'll send tonight washing and drying this stuff...so I can wear it.
Placed an ad in the Fayetteville paper for the yard sale. It will run 3 days and it puts me $27.50 in the hole. Let's hope I make it up!!!!!
I have a confession to make... I'm addicted to Suduko puzzles! I can't sleep until I do at least two. I've completed 2 books and am working on a book of 400! William keeps asking me how to spell it, even as he looks at the cover of the book. I wondered why he was doing this, and decided to misspell it on purpose. His look of triumph as he corrected me told me why...he's been hoping I'll screw up so he can be King Spelling Bee guy. Kids!
Haven't done squat today.... due to having to give out pictures to the teens. Maybe sometime tomorrow I'll get a chance to finish the Summer issue of my mag... let's hope so. I know my adoring fans are waiting. haha

storms
We had some rough stormy weather Sat eve and yesterday. The street in front of Al's house flooded. His trash can was swimming in it. But as soon as the rain stopped, the street cleaned up. We stood on his porch, looking at the water. It looked like a mini river, whirlpooling around debris. Al described how the boy drowned in 2004, the one he tried to save. I could see how the kid didn't see the drainage canal. The rain water pools heavily in all the yards on the street. If you didn't know better, you would think it was a normal rain puddle.
It was a fun weekend. I actually drank too much wine and had a giddy buzz going on. Al pretended to take advantage of me...and I pretended to let him.
Yesterday I didn't feel so great...probably from the wine. So we hung out and did some house chores. Watched a few movies and played cards.
Going to have my yard sale this weekend. Got all the stuff I want to sale out of the studio. I still need to work on the attic and one closet. I'll do that tonight.
School's out on Wednesday. The nephews are really excited. I hope they don't get too bored over the summer. Saturday they had all their stuffed animals out on the couch. They played 'buy and sale'... which was sort of cute because Ben can't count money yet (they had play $$$) and William helped him. They took turns buying and selling. The last time they played "Pet Store"...Ben 'hired' William and when William got tired of playing he asked Ben to "Fire" him. Then later when he wanted to play some more, he re-applied for the position.
My workload is light this week. Thank heavens. Let's hope I didn't just jinx myself.
Didn't get to shop due to the rain. So I've got to go shopping this week for Al some stuff. And think of what kind of cake to bake for him. He requested a "pie" but I can't really write what kind...wink wink.
I talked to my friend Sam on Saturday. We've had hit and miss calls for the last few weeks. He left a message on my cell phone's voicemail that he would be working Sat and for me to call him, because he was spending the night at a haunted hotel. So... I called and he had some wild things to happen to him. We talked for over an hour...something we haven't done in ages. I realized after we hung up that I miss him a lot. He's become a good friend over the years. And can be a bit of a devil at times. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Oh well... there goes the phone... back to work.

Hello June
What the heck happened to May?
Well, things are slowly slowing down. School is out this coming Wednesday, and we'll have all our school photos out by then. I've slowed down some in the restoration department. I've got enough to keep me steadily busy. To be honest, I hate working on quick deadlines when really bad photos need restoring. I feel as if I don't do the work justice.
Things with Al are really good. I found some old journals I kept back in 1998-2000. This was the era of our bad break-up and the fallout from it. I wept after reading some of it... alot of the entries were 'Al called last night. He was drunk and irate." Or "Al called a while ago. He was drunk and crying, begging me to get back together." I really believe that if you give love a chance to breathe and find it's proper place, it will reward you to the fullest. I can't say it's perfect between us, because he is a literal person and I'm not. I think in shades of gray, he sees only black and white. But we've created a balance that works for us. And I think I fall deeper in love with him every moment we spend together. He's made me cry in the past but he's made me laugh more in the present. If anyone appreciates that second chance at love, we do.
His birthday is June 11. He'll be 47. I guess I should start birthday shopping... hmmm Victoria's Secret seems like the perfect place to look...lol.. and No, Al doesn't wear ladies lingerie... though once he had on my sheer black nightgown as a goof... talk about funny... a man with a 'stache and hairy legs wearing a sheer nightgown... priceless.
Anyways, back to work... thanks for hanging in here, gang.
PS... K... email me your photos and I'll see if I can touch them up.. NO Charge for you.

The Secret Old Folk Driving School
I believe when you hit 70 years-old or so that there's a secret old folk driving school that you're sent to, which teaches the elderly how to drive ...crazy...
On the way from office depot, I have to hit at least 8 traffic lights...and the old blue hair lady in the caddy in front of me, stopped at every red light, every yellow light and yes, every green light....
I prayed for patience because I'm figuring if I don't lose my temper with senior citizen driving, then I've earned the right to drive the young folk drivers crazy when I'm over 70 with blue hair, driving a caddy where I can barely see over the steering wheel!!!

Amendment to the previous post
...if you do go see the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End movie...make sure you stick around for "Easter Egg"...after the credits roll a scene appears which adds to the ending... so don't forget to watch it. I didn't know about it until another person told me about it.

Fizzle of the Caribbean (spoiler alert)
Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End (#3)... and left out of the theatre, saying to the ticket taker guy, "The ending sucks eggs, dude." He said, "I'm just the ticket guy. Not the writer."
All that hype about Keith Richards playing Jack's dad...and he's on for about 5 mins or so, and acts subdued. Didn't he do his homework???? His makeup gave him a doughboy face. I was disappointed.
There were a lot of moments when I laughed out loud, and there were some great fight scenes...and some shocking moments, like at the beginning with the gallows scene. At one time there was a Mexican standoff where even the monkey had a gun... now that was priceless. I guess if I have to give it a grade it would be a B-. Too many subplots, too much betrayal and some personal agendas that seemed pointless most of the time...
Surprisingly it seemed to be Keira Knightley's movie...I'll stop there... I'm about to write waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
All I can say for now...is that if there is a 4th, they need to get better writers.

Yeppers
I know...those quizzes I just posted don't make up for all the days, I've been neglecting this blog...and other things.
Life's been hectic this month...at the studio, we're in the last few days of our school pictures and are working on a tight deadline. Plus I got in kegger of work and had to get it done by some tight deadlines... and home life has been fairly busy too...
life... how it get's in the way of online stuff. But I don't complain, a few years ago, I spent entirely too many hours online and caught up in too much online drama.
I wouldn't give up my life now for the past...for any amount of money offerred.
Al and I are getting along really great. We have our up and down moments, but both of us work hard to keep them up. We listen to each other and try to compromise when we disagree and if we can't... I remind him that it's ok to have opposing opinions, as long at they don't crush our relationship and they won't if we don't let them.
William and Ben are excited that school will be out less than 2 weeks. They've done great this year and I will have to come up with some sort of reward..maybe a day trip or something.
Been working on articles for a June issue of the magazine... that's right... a June issue. I've decided to limit the issues to Bi-yearly: June and Dec. I just don't have time to work on a monthly issue.
I spent the whole week working really hard on retouching and restoration. I bet I finished 30 or more sets of photos. All turned out great. I figured if I got ahead of the game, then I could take a 3 day weekend and get back to the grind on Tuesday without the frantic feeling of falling behind and never catching up. Going to Al's and hanging out. He may have to work but that's ok. I've got a wading pool that the boys have outgrown but I can fit in comfortably. I'm taking it to Al's. If he's not around, I'll fill it with water and have a lounge about in the coolnes of it. The weather has been rather warm lately. Maybe I'll sip some brewskies or wine coolers... and contemplate perfecting the perfect kiss....
if there is ever such a thing... I like to keep trying...

Al and his Kitties
Al's cat "Slick" (I call her Mamma) had 4 kittens about 6 weeks ago. She brought the kittens to him a week ago. Here's a picture of him in the hall holding two of them. The other two were in the closet. He's found homes for them. My favorite was a little tiger tabby. It followed me everywhere. If I had a place to keep it, I would have but it will make a nice pet for a child. All of them will.
